Rico Verhoeven: ‘Sem Schilt motiveerde mij om kampioen te worden’

Dat Rico Verhoeven een groot kickboks kampioen is, die weet waar hij vandaan komt en waar hij zijn succes aan te danken heeft, bleek maar weer eens uit een tweetal posts op Instagram waar hij Sem Schilt eert.

Via Instagram laat Verhoeven gisteren weten dat hij veel te danken heeft aan Sem Schilt in zijn post verteld hij dan ook:

“Flashback friday: 31st of dec new years eve 2012 final 16. 4 fights in 1 night tournement. Won my first fight and so did my opponent in this picture. What was special about this fight although I lost was this was my first time having a shot at the world title. “

De gevaarlijkste man op de planeet

This man was the baddest man on the planet for years in a row. But the moment we both stepped on the catwalk and I remember this clear as day. I thought to myself right at that moment "I dont want to be nowhere else, then right here facing this man" ......It was a good fight with actions back and forth but the Semmy Schilt walked away with the victory, and that night again he became champion. “

In zijn tweede post vervolgt Verhoeven;

“After the fight with Sem i felt disappointed but at the end of the night Sem walked up to me and told me his hardest fight that night was versus me. He also said he was sure I was going to be champion within 2 years.

After he told me that I did feel like a winner ......And it motivated me like crazy. I dont know if @semmyschilt was a fortune teller but less then 1 year later this picture was made. Thanks Semmy Schilt for motivating me like the champion you are.
